Going from the Best to the Best.‏

This week has been awesome. My new area is great (Weatherford Ward, and Weatherford Young Single Adult Branch for anyone who doesn't know). The people here are night and day different from the people in Denton. And there is an obvious reason for that, Denton being home of two major universities is very liberal and is a part of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, Weatherford on the other hand is a much more small town. It has a population of about 25,000 (Kaysville is about 30,000) but geographically is spread out. It's country out here. I love it. People here have the real Southern Hospitality and they are all good conservative Christians. People actually talk to us when we approach them, and he has a real teaching pool!

The ward and stake here are great. They are all very missionary minded and the work really makes sense here. We had two investigators at church and once we introduced them to a couple members we practically didn't need to even see them again for those three hours because the members took care of them. It's great. One of our investigators, I will call him Gus, loved church. The missionaries have been trying to get him to come for a few weeks and he kept saying no, but he is going in for spinal surgery this week and is scared, so we taught him about the atonement on Saturday and invited him to come to church, and he said that he felt like he could find some peace there so he would come. Well he loved it. He is normally really shy but by third hour he was talking to people and just going great. We gave him a blessing and it was very powerful.

We had our Stake Missionary Correlation meeting with the Stake President and President Sagers yesterday too that was a really good meeting. We have a lot of things we are going to do here to keep the work going and to involve members. We are going to start teaching the lessons to all of the youth as if they were investigators to help them better understand the gospel, gain a stronger testimony, and have a base of what they can share with people if they have questions. I am excited for that. At the meeting President Sagers made the comment about how lucky I am because I went from what is considered one of the best zones to serve in, to the other one that is considered one of the best. So I feel blessed.

So it is different here than any of my other areas, because we don't live in an apartment complex, we live with members. Actually, we live with the Bishop and his wife. I am the 46th missionary to live here with them; number 2 was also from Kaysville which was 4 years ago. This is the area that Edler Lao was trained in, and I know a lot of other missionaries that served in this ward. It's cool also cause we share the ward with a Spanish companionship, so there are 4 of us (actually 5, they have a visa waiter) together for church and stuff. They don't live with the members though, they have an apartment in town, we live "out in the country." which is funny as I think about it, because Grandma and Grandpa Stoker live in a more country area than this, but I never really thought of that area as country before. Anyway, it's cool living with them, they rock. I got to drive their awesome Jon Deere riding mower on Friday when we mowed their couple acre lawn. That thing hauls.

Elder Moore is great. He is from Upland California. Cool random fact, the guy that plays Kip in Napoleon Dynamite was one of his Deacon Quorum advisors. He is a dang good missionary, and even though I have got 6 months longer than him, he is one of those rocking missionaries that just knows how to do the work, and I am going to learn a lot from him. But that is the way it should be. Our zone is huge, both geographically and the number of missionaries. There is one less companionship here than there was in Denton, but the areas are much more spread out, due to the country-ness of it. We have a lot of fun together, and we are going to do work.

Well, I am out of time. I love y'all! Have a great week!

Lay down your sweet and weary head. Night has fallen, you have come to Journey's end.‏

Well, I have not come to my actual Journey's End yet, but as far as my time in Denton, it is over.
I am really excited for this coming transfer. We have a lot of really good things going on here, so Elder Phister's new companion is going to jump into some success here. I am also excited because I get to go to Weatherford. I am going from the furthest North Zone to the Furthest West. So if you look at the pattern, I went from the furthest south, to dead center, to the top, now to the west. So I just need to go to the center again, and then east and I'll have been all over the mission :)
Weatherford is going to be great. I will be serving with Elder Moore, who was trained by Elder Johnson who I have known since sophomore year thanks to Marching Band. It's going to rock.
This week was awesome. We had some great lessons with Syd (Mary's roommate) who loved what we taught, for the most part. She knows the Bible forward and backward, so when she hears things that are not already in her knowledge base, she gets this look on her face that you can just tell she isn't believing what you're saying. But I have had cool experiences in teaching her in these situations. Each concern she has is answered clearly by three resources, the Bible, the Book of Mormon, and Logic. As we talk about her concerns, things come to mine and elder Phister's minds that resolve them so easily. I love the gospel, and I love the Spirit.
Ummm..... I don't know what else to talk about, and we need to roll out so we can shop and do transfer notes and stuff, I love y'all!

Kill those Chiggers!

Many of you may be wondering right at this moment, "what is a chigger?" Well let me tell you.
In texas, there are many, many bugs. Many different kinds of bugs. For example, In Utah, when you say "wasp" you think of a yellow jacket, or some other slightly-larger-than-a-bumble-bee wasp. In Texas, yellow jackets are the smallest wasps in the state. There are red wasps, black wasps, purple wasps, and other various colors (the orange ones look really cool). And they don't really have stripes. They look more like something you would see on Transformers: Beast Wars, like an armored insect from hell or something. And their bodies are the size of my thumb. Crazy right?
Well, luckily I have not been stung by a huge wasp (knock on wood), but I have now experienced Chiggers. Chiggers are very, very small little red bugs that like grass. But they also like to leave the grass and get in your pants and socks. And then, they burrow into your skin, and live there until you kill them. And they itch like a mosquito bite, except worse. Luckily they aren't like ticks that give you diseases and stuff, but they are very, very obnoxious. And the worst thing about them is that there are never only a couple there, there are always a lot. Needless to say, both myself and Elder Phister have very itchy ankles right now. Apparently they are very fragile, so you can kill them easily if you get to them before they get in you, the problem is they are so small you can't really see them. Fun Stuff.
Anyway, this week was awesome! On Tuesday we had a baptism! Mary finally got baptized. It was a powerful baptism. I had the opportunity to perform the baptism, so that was cool. After the baptism, her roommate came up to us and told us that since we started coming over to teach Mary, she had been feeling some things, and decided to quit smoking. After 50 years of smoking, she just decided to quit because we were coming over. Just like that. So that was awesome. Then she started talking to our Ward Mission Leader's wife (who we have a really good relationship with) and asked her if you had to be a member to visit the church. After that was taken care of, she mentioned that she would try to borrow Mary's Book of Mormon some time. So we told her there was no need for that, ran out to the truck and got her one. We got an appointment with her for two days later.
So on Thursday afternoon we taught her the first lesson. It went great, and we set a baptismal date with her right then and there. It was awesome. She has definitely been prepared. She told us yesterday that she told her son that she might become Mormon, and he asked her if that was the people with George Smith. That the first time I've gotten George, usually it is John Smith, or Joe Smith. And I don't think he was referring to George Albert Smith. Anyway, it was funny.
Next week is transfers by the way, and I am pretty sure I will be leaving, since I have been here for 4 transfers now. So no one should send me anything after Saturday, and next Monday I'll have my new address.
Well, that is my week. Baptism, new investigator, and chiggers. Good week.
I Love y'all! Have a good week!

Short Email, but really long week.‏

Well, this week was crazy, and looking back it seems like it took forever and like nothing happened. But it was still good.
This week we had a cool experience with Elder Yazzie and Elder Russon. They called us an asked if we would be available to help a potential investigator move. As we were helping her, she told us she knew it was an answer to her prayer and that God was helping her. She had a lot of stuff to move and it took us forever. But it would have been impossible for her to do it alone. We helped for two hours on Tuesday, and then 5 hours on Wednesday. She talked about how God is providing for her and helping her to find the things she needs. Elder Russon did a great job of teaching her on the spot when she made these comments and she wants to hear the lessons once she gets in to her new place, which will be in a couple weeks. She will either be still in the Denton 4th Ward or she may be moving into the Denton 3rd Ward boundaries, we are not sure which yet. She saw God's hand in sending us. It was cool.
I am drawing a blank right now as to what else to talk about. This is going to be the shortest email of my mission, so... sorry I guess.
Love y'all!
