6 MONTHS

Holy cow, this transfer is already almost over. We are in week 6, next Monday I find out if I stay in Killeen for another 6 weeks, or if I take off. That being said, Anything that is put in the mail for me should be at the post office by Saturday if it is sent to my Killeen address, otherwise it can be sent to the Mission Office. Hopefully next week I'll have my new address (if I get transferred) ready when I email.

This past week was awesome. We had Zone Conference, which is always a blast. We went to Waco (roughly an hour drive) to meet with our Zone and the Waco Zone and with President Sagers and the Assistants. It was great. I learned a ton. President sagers goes on random tangents, but they always apply. At one point his tangent became a discourse on understanding Isaiah, which was freaking awesome. We got a lot of trainings about eliminating distractions from lessons, and about asking inspired questions to help investigators understand. It was awesome. The wards in the stake where we have ZC provide lunch for us, and they made a ton of brisket. I love Texas.

Seriously though, I hear about people in crazy places where they eat the same thing over and over again, like rice in Cambodia for example.... and I am grateful to be in Texas, where the only thing I need to worry about eating too often is meat.

The night before Zone Conference the Assistants came down and went on exchanges with the Zone Leaders, but since the ZLs didn't have enough set up that night to split up, one of them came with us. it was awesome to have him (Elder Spear) with us. We taught a lesson at a dinner appointment, and then did some stop by's. We got to the last 5 minutes before the exchange with him was over and Brindley and I were ready to just chill for a couple minutes, but he told us that president had promised in the past that this was the best time to push a little harder and get something for it. So we walked to the gas station by our apartment, and talked to Michael and Lindsey, a couple we've never met before. We got a return appointment and found out they live in our complex.

That was a week ago, and we've now taught them twice. They are awesome. We never would have found them if we didn't work for those last 5 minutes, so I'm grateful for the leadership and promises that come from the priesthood.

Yesterday we had an interesting experience that I believe was a test.

We're standing outside the chapel greeting people as they come in and the 1st counselor in the bishopric walks up to us with this guy we've never seen before in ACU's (the digital camo army uniform, which is pretty common dress for sacrament meeting in the military town) and he introduces his to us. This guy, Darren, met with the missionaries twice in Kansas, the PCS'd (permanent change of station) to Ft. Hood. He got up at 5:30 and started walking to the church, from on post, to get there in time for services. He's golden. He was introduced to the church by his girlfriend who was debating on getting married or going on a mission, when she explained to him what the mission was, he told her that he would financially support her mission (because her family aren't members) so that she would never have any regrets of not going. That way when he is deployed she couldn't be upset with herself for not going. After that, he started investigating the church and wants to be baptized!

Now here is the test for us. He lives on Post, which means he is not "our" investigator (technically he is the lord's investigator) but we don't get to teach him, because it's not our area. He will be taught be Elder and Sister Smith, the military relations senior couple. But that's alright, because they don't ever get transfered so they'll be able to teach him through whatever transfers it takes and support him after his baptism, whereas I may not see him again after next week anyway. And, like I said, he is the Lord's investigator, as long as he makes the covenants he needs to it doesn't matter who teaches him.

So we introduced him to Elder Smith and it's done.

I've learned some pretty cool things while reading the Book of Mormon lately. It's amazing how often God, Christ, and the Holy Ghost really are talked about. I am highlighting every reference to them, and every single page has highlights on it. I always knew they were in there, but I never realized how extremely often it is. No wonder the spirit is so strong when you read the Book of Mormon of, it truly testifies of Jesus Christ and his Atonement on every page. I promise you that whenever you feel down, whenever you feel you need something more, or whenever you feel like you could simply just use a bit more of the spirit, you will find it in the Book of Mormon. Joseph Smith said that by abiding by the precepts in the Book of Mormon will get you closer to God than by any other book. It's true. Of course the Book of Mormon does not and cannot replace the Bible, but the Book of Mormon is also perfect, it has been translated by the power of the priesthood, therefore the Doctrines of Men are not taught as commandment. No one Voted on what doctrine to include during its translation as they did in the translation of the Bible. They both bring the spirit, but the Book of Mormon will bring immure prominently and more consistently.

I promise that this is true, and you can know by trying it out. Don't take my word for it, try it. Apply it. Pray about it. You will see the Cause and Effect of the Book of Mormon, it's not a coincidence.

Love you all!
